The Boston Symphony Orchestra has a dynamic and challenging opportunity for an Assistant Artistic Administrator. In this key position, you will be responsible for assisting in the Artistic Administrator in the development of Symphony programming. Additionally, you will plan and manage diverse educational activities, assist in artist contract negotiation, plan and manage a variety of events and concerts including all levels of education and chamber music series.
As the successful candidate, you will be a self-starter with a vast knowledge of classical repertoire and the ability to build excellent relationships with a diverse group of artists’ and staff while maintaining a high levels of diplomacy in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications: BS/BA degree or equivalent, preferably in arts management. Minimum of five years experience in arts and/or orchestral management, experience in a non-profit environment preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of classical music repertoire and artists essential, including chamber and vocal repertoire. Strong attention to detail, customer service focus and interpersonal skills. Ability to deal with diverse groups of individuals and build strong relationships. Excellent time and project management skills with an ability to manage multiple high level projects simultaneously. Excellent computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets. Basic knowledge and experience in the application of tax treaties and work rules for domestic and foreign artists. Multi-lingual skills are highly desired but not required.
