The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for a Department Assistant in the Department of Architecture and Design to perform a variety of administrative duties specific to a curatorial department.
The incumbent will work closely with and will report to three curators in the Department.
Specific responsibilities include:
Coordinates with various internal Museum departments, particularly Exhibition Planning, Accounting, and Information Technology.
Coordinates all communications, scheduling, travel, and accounting procedures for curators. Makes all travel and logistical arrangements for curators. Reconciles curator’s corporate credit cards on a monthly basis.
Acts as general assistant to Department (mail, reception, inquiries via Museum website or telephone, invoicing, office supplies, book orders, meeting room schedule).
Performs general administrative duties, including organization and maintenance of all curator files and general organization of the office.
Facilitates email, written correspondence, and telephone calls for supervising curators.
Completes projects and administrative assignments as directed by curators, including close collaboration and coordination with both internal and external parties.
Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree and two to three years administrative experience relevant to the position or equivalent. Superior judgment, professional initiative, and strong verbal communication capabilities. Interest and/or background in architecture or design preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other standard office procedures and equipment. Ability to take direction and work as part of a team. Excellent administrative and organizational abilities. Pleasant phone manner. Ability to effectively interact with and manage external parties who support the department.
