The Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance (GBCA) nurtures and promotes a vibrant, diverse, and sustainable arts and cultural community, essential to the region’s quality of life. GBCA supports the needs of more than 400 members from the Baltimore region (Baltimore City and the five surrounding counties) including arts, culture, history, and heritage organizations, as well as individual artists. GBCA requires a strong infrastructure to steward its members and to develop new programs and initiatives.
The Development and Membership Manager is responsible for expanding, cultivating and securing funding from individuals, foundations, corporations, and government to support GBCA’s nearly $1 million operations. The position also manages and works together with the Membership Services Assistant to manage and recruit members and to design and implement programming that supports the cultural sector. The ideal candidate will be an effective administrator, taking initiative to manage systems and infrastructure for development appeals and proposals as well as membership programs and events and volunteer management. Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational ability and a desire to work in a fast-paced, creative environment in close contact with the Executive Director, staff, and leadership volunteers are required. Responsibilities include managing membership and donor solicitations; processing recognition and reports for fees and contributions; managing events and volunteers. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and donor management software is required (Salesforce a plus). The position reports to the Executive Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary focus of this position will be to expand contributed income streams from individuals, foundations, corporations and the public sector. Additionally, the Manager will work closely with the Membership Services Assistant to develop strategies for member recruitment and retention. The Manager will have regular interactions with leaders and artists in the greater Baltimore cultural community. The position will provide natural opportunities to learn and grow and requires the ability to remain flexible and adaptable in regard to work assignments.
