Part Time Grant Writer, bergenPAC
Organization Description: The bergenPAC is a 501(c)3 organization with a 1371 seat theater, has a robust Performing Art School and extensive Arts Educational Outreach Programs. The theater, which hosts 150+ performances each year (rock, jazz, classical, comedy, dance, etc.), is located in Englewood, NJ, in Bergen County.
Position Description: The Grants Writer is a key member of the bergenPAC Development Team, charged with the creative growth and maintenance of the organizations existing and prospective institutional supporters (foundations, corporate and government agencies). This position reports to the Director of Development and works closely in support of the Directors of the Performing Art School (PAS), PAS Outreach Programs and President/CEO.
Primary responsibilities include working with Senior Staff to strategically develop and execute an annual plan for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, stewarding and retaining institutional funding support for the theater’s operating budget, capital improvements, in-theater educational programs and educational outreach programs. Responsibilities also include prospect identification, research and positioning, inquiry and proposal writing, grant stewardship and relationship building, budgeting and reporting.
Candidates should have evidence of success in grant writing with a strong fluency in storytelling; have exceptional organizational, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills. The candidate should also be able to multi-task, meet deadlines, work independently and with staff at all levels, be a team player. Successful awards for National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grants are highly desired. Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel and Raisor’s Edge is highly desirable.
Bachelor’s Degree in related field is required. Experience in non-profit fundraising is required, the arts preferred.
Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. Evening and weekend work will be required ad dictated by donor events and meetings. Days in the office are to be determined.
Salary commensurate with experience.
