The Hunter College Music Department seeks an imaginative and highly organized arts administrator to assist in the development of a vibrant music program. Hunter College, located at 68th and Lexington Avenue, is building on its considerable academic strengths to become a center for musical performance. This new position is an essential part of an effort to offer high-quality musical preparation and experience in an rigorous intellectual environment. The PM will be responsible for day-to-day administrative support and production for the music department. The PM will coordinate with the Performing Arts Office, manage special programs in and outside of Hunter and oversee all communications and marketing. The PM will report to the chair, but work closely with the Director of Performance and Department Coordinator. The successful candidate will have exceptional written and oral communication skills, a degree in a music-related field, administrative experience and, ideally, abilities in graphic design. The candidate will be self-motivated and an enthusiastic supporter for the cause of music and public education. Possible adjunct teaching may be included outside office hours, depending on need and area of expertise. This yearly position requires 35 hours per week, includes a starting salary of 43K and eligibility for health benefits after 90 days.
