Operations Manager, School of Music
The George Mason University School of Music within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks qualified candidates for the position of Operations Manager.
The position will be working in a vibrant academic environment as a vital link in showcasing School of Music excellence through student and faculty concerts. This position will report directly to the Managing Director and be responsible for hands-on operational, logistical and administrative support to all School of Music faculty and staff. Primary duties include:
The successful candidate will possess a thorough understanding and knowledge of the performing arts, excellent time and people management skills, the ability to multitask and juggle several projects at one time, be detail-oriented, and have a proven ability to complete tasks in a timely and competent manner. Candidates should also possess strong verbal and written communication skills; computer skills to include a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs; and an ability to maintain harmonious working relationships with a population of diverse faculty, staff and students. A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Candidates should have demonstrated experience in the performing arts (a bachelor’s degree in music or arts management is preferred). Experience in an academic or commensurate professional setting is of strong value. Production experience, scheduling experience, or administrative support for a university or performing ensemble is preferred. Proficiency with MS Office suite (especially Excel), Google Docs, and Google Calendar is needed.
