Trestle Gallery internships are open to undergraduate students, graduate students and recent graduates, as well as anyone seriously interested in learning about behind the scenes activities of a contemporary, non-profit gallery. The position is unpaid, but offers studio access and membership at Trestle Art Space, so it is ideal for artists who would use the studio and benefits such as free figure drawing, monthly critiques, art talks, and exhibition opportunities. Interns also receive discounts on classes.
Trestle is currently accepting applications for two internship positions available at our two Brooklyn locations, Trestle Gallery 850 3rd Ave, at 30st Street (Sunset Park) and Trestle Projects (Gowanus) 400 3rd Ave, at 6th Street.
Trestle (Sunset Park) interns are expected to commit 10 hours per week (two days at 5 hours per day – Monday,Wednesday and/or Friday) for 3-5 months. During this time, interns work with TAS staff on a variety of projects in the gallery and office, as well as independently-driven projects tailored to the intern’s skills and interests.
Trestle Projects (Gowanus) interns would require about 8 hours a week (4 hours Saturday, 4 hours Sunday) as well as occasional additional hours including assisting with show installation/de-installation and opening receptions.
Only serious applications please. Being on time and ready at the beginning of each shift is essential.*
Please email email@example.com with cover letter, cv, and days/hours available. Please put “Trestle Intern Application” in the subject line.
