Founded in 2007 and opened to the public in 2009, the Roebling Museum’s mission is to document, preserve and exhibit the history of the John A. Roebling’s Sons Company, the Roebling family and the village of Roebling. Its focus is not only on the industrial and technological achievements of the company but on the unique social history of its workforce and the town it created. The Museum bridges a storied past to the present by providing exhibits and programs directed at the interests of the worldwide public while also serving as a valuable resource for school curriculum enhancement programs and academic research. The museum’s exhibits, programs and services connect most directly to communities interested in history, engineering, industrialism, immigration, bridges, STEM/STEAM education, and museums/cultural institutions. The Roebling Museum seeks to hire a volunteer and program management professional with a minimum of 5 years experience, to take on this part-time, permanent position. This individual will be responsible for management, recruitment and scheduling of the museum’s volunteer docents and front desk/museum store staff. The position requires the incumbent to serve as professional staff at the museum three to four (3-4) days per week, typically Wednesday-Friday, with occasional Saturdays included. Duties include developing, maintaining and managing educational and outreach programs; recruiting, scheduling and managing volunteers; scheduling, and managing group tours of the museum; writing and posting daily on the museum’s social media pages; and interacting and engaging daily with visitors, volunteers, board members and other museum staff. The position would be best served by an individual who has their own transportation. This position is currently open, and immediately available. Roebling Museum will review resumes and schedule interviews on a rolling basis until March 1, 2016, or until a successful candidate is found.
